Andy's Project Car
It started out as a UC Torana
which l picked up from Adelaide.
Not an easy transformation from a UC to a LX as I thought.
l had to purchase a donor car then cut the tops off the sub frame and weld
them to the UC to allow the guards to bolt on as with the UC, the LX guards
left a 1/2 inch gap most of the way down to the nose cone.
The UC radiator support panel also had to be removed and a LX one welded in
its place.
The front end was removed, stripped, painted in satin black and rebuilt with
HQ stub axles, HQ slotted rotors new ball joints, tierods, Pedder springs,
shocks, stabilizer bar and finished off with HX alloy calipers and new
bushes.
The engine is 253. 40thou up, balanced, new pistons rings and bearings,
stage 3 cam, Yella Terra heads with roller rockers, Edelbrock performer
manifold, holly 650, high volume oil and fuel pump performance clutch with 1
tonner 4 speed.
The rear suspension also has the Pedder treatment with commodore disc brakes
all in the HQ pattern with the slotted rotors.
The engine bay has been painted, guards are in high fill at the moment and
looking forward to the Easter days off to get a lot further with this
project.
The colors will be palis white, black and red, it will be a Brock 1979
Bathurst winning LX replica.
There is still a lot of work left like the UC tail lights need to be cut out
and the LX welded in, wiring, fitting the flares and bonnet scoop and
getting it running.
I hope to push it off the trailer for the first time for the 6hr at the
Island this year.
Andy
